Science

  • Studies have shown that Loquat flowers and leaves contain in phenolics and triterpenes; fruits contain in organic acids, sugars, carotenoids, phenolic acids, flavonoids, and vitamins. The kernel is rich in minerals, tannins, proteins, and starch.  
  • The Loquat leaf extract has lots of constituents that are antioxidant in nature, for example, phenolic acids, flavonoids. As an antioxidant, it helps skin protect from oxidative stress.. The triterpenes or vitamins also act as an anti-inflammatory. It may be useful in case of dry skin, acne-prone skin.

History

  • In Korea, loquats have been used as traditional medicine for thousands of years. The Korean used loquat fruits and leaves to treat coughs, diabetes, and cancer, among other ailments.
